Come and discuss city issues with Councilman Kevin Hanley at Courthouse Coffee at 1425 Lincoln Way. Kevin will gladly spring for a free cup of coffee and listen to your suggestions about how to make Auburn an even more enjoyable place to live. Kevin will be at Courthouse Coffee every fourth Saturday from 9 - 10am:




Barry in the Morning show


The morning after city council meetings, Kevin talks with Barry Stigers on KAHI (AM 950). Listen on the second and fourth Tuesdays of the month at 8:00 AM.




Project Canyon Safe underway, next date TBD

Kevin Hanley's Biography

Photo of Kevin Hanley Photo by Ted Ganiats Kevin Hanley was born in Palo Alto and grew up in Los Altos Hills, a small town in what would later become Silicon Valley. He obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Economy from U.C. Berkeley and a Masters Degree in Public Policy Analysis from Claremont Graduate University.







Kevin served in the Navy from 1985-1989 Kevin served in the Navy from 1985-1989.


For the last 20 years, Kevin has worked in the State Capitol as a Health and Insurance Policy Consultant. Kevin assists state legislators in understanding the pros and cons and potential long-term ramifications of each piece of legislation. Kevin served Governor Wilson's Insurance Advisor in 1998-99.


Kevin was elected to the Auburn City Council in 2002 and re-elected in 2006. Kevin serves on the Sacramento Area Council of Governments, the 6-county region's transportation planning agency, the Placer County Flood Control and Water Conservation District, and the Placer County Services Commission.


Kevin helped create the Greater Auburn Area Fire Safe Council and serves as its chairman. To help support a stronger and more sustainable community and business climate, Kevin also helped create Think Auburn First and serves as its chairman.


Kevin and Hattie Hanley For the last nine years, Kevin wrote approximately 400 weekly columns for the Placer Sentinel on local, state and federal public policy issues. Kevin has also published guest columns in the Auburn Journal, Sacramento BEE, and California Forestry magazine.


Kevin serves as a Lector at St. Joseph's Church. Kevin is married to Hattie Hanley and enjoys oil painting, reading history, swimming and snow skiing.
